ABOUT CJAC
The Criminal Justice Advisory Council is a task force comprised of business and community leaders, law enforcement, nonprofit service providers, attorneys and judges who share an interest in making Oklahoma County’s justice system fair and effective. CJAC is working toward a justice system in which everyone is treated with respect and dignity, those who have committed and been victims of crime alike.
OUR SIX FOLD PLAN
In 2015 we took a deep look at the problems plaguing Oklahoma County’s justice system. We walked away with six major initiatives that, if enacted, will create a more fair and effective system. Those six initiatives serve as our guiding principles.
GET TO KNOW US
In 2015, the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber invited the Vera Institute for Justice to conduct a thorough audit of the county’s justice system and jail. CJAC was launched in
2018 as a mechanism of accountability to ensure Vera’s recommendations are enacted.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
The Oklahoma County Criminal Justice Advisory Council will post meeting dates, events from our community partners and opportunities to advocate for change.
As it stands, Oklahoma County residents are paying more for a justice system that keeps them less safe. Major reforms are a win-win in terms of balancing safety, cost and meaningful justice. Join the effort today!
UPCOMING
CJAC works with a robust array of community partners to provide holistic solutions to crime including drug and alcohol treatment, job training and placement, mental health services and stable housing. In addition to our own public monthly meetings, we share our community partners’ events and initiatives to our event calendar.
